A Very Lovely Magazine Feature

Last weekend as I was editing images and organising orders the post dropped onto the doormat downstairs.
My new mantra is if I am in the middle of something, don't just drop it and move on to something else. That said the post stayed on the doormat for quite a few hours..

When I did take the time to make my way through the pile I came across a brown envelope with a heavy book inside. I was intrigued by it and ripped open the envelope to find this beautiful magazine.
(Click on the images so that they appear bigger.)

Earlier this year I received an email from a publishing house who loved the Keep Cosy This Christmas designs.
I was so pleased to see it feature above and after spotting it I had a good flick through this wonderful magazine.

I must admit that I have not yet found time to read the articles in full, I am terrible for flicking through and looking at pictures!

Which leads me on nicely to this article which I have just found when scanning these beautiful images in..

Something For The Weekend is one of the articles which I have come across when flicking through the magazine today. It's an article about 'Reclaiming the weekend' explaining how 'Real leisure is not about a packed social calendar, it's about balance.' I couldn't agree more and I absolutely will make time this busy weekend to take some time off (however small) and have a good read!

Have a great weekend!

A Sunday Catch Up

I wanted to share a couple of Sunday snaps with you.

The roast dinner is in the oven and my to do list is growing by the second. But we managed to get a couple of hours outside today and had a lovely relaxed stroll around Winchester.

There is always something going on in Winchester it seems.

Today it was the farmers market, the vintage market and the art and design market, so there was plenty to see! We managed to pick up some lovely things for our next photo shoot.

Back in the studio now it's time to pack garlands and gift wrap as it seems we all turn to home comforts, such as baking, keeping cosy and adding festive touches to our homes.

Last but by no means least, I am so pleased to say that Sophia Victoria Joy has been featured on the Letter From The Editor page of this months Country Homes and Interiors Magazine. Something I had always dreamed of.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday,

Idea Home - 'This Month We Found'

This morning I got a very early start in the studio.

Christmas orders are now flying in and I have found myself becoming a full time postman! However it was yesterday that I came across this lovely feature of our Blackboard Enamel Mug & Flask in Ideal Home.

Yesterday was a day of packing and finalising a product sample for an exciting photo shoot. As it began to get dark I looked at the clock, and noticed that I was left with 5 minutes to get to the post office and post a press loan next day delivery.

After achieving this I was more than happy to be offered a 'pick me up' cup of tea there and then by partner Mike. Dashing out of the post office door I spotted Ideal Home and picked it up, with that 'Just in case' attitude!

Once flopped onto a comfy chair I had a quick flick through and to my delight, there was our Blackboard Enamel Mug and Flask!

Once I got home and had responded to the days emails I popped this product live on the Sophia Victoria Joy website for Pre Order. (Available for dispatch 1st November) To my delight we had our first order for this new product instantly!

I think that the lesson is that hard work pays off. Sometimes it's features such as this or a simple phone call from a customer to say thank you which really makes my day.

Preparing For Winter

We are preparing for winter, the best way we know how!

This week has by far been the busiest week of the year. As the temperature dropped I have found myself longing for winter knitted jumpers, hot chocolate and cosy boots! It's these little pleasures which help me throughout the busy Christmas rush. It's without a doubt my favourite time of the year.

We have been packing orders for our organised customers and also our stockists both in the UK and abroad too. We have had lots of lovely Christmas products heading out ready for winter. I am delighted to say that we have a number of new stockists ordering week on week, it's been so lovely to catch up online today and take a really good look at the beautiful shops which we have sent parcels out to this week.

So this weekend, I'll be preparing for next week, in my knitted jumper with a mug of hot chocolate!

Behind The Scenes

As we prepare for the Christmas rush I thought that it would be nice to share a little of what goes on behind the scenes here at Sophia Victoria Joy and a few of the team of people which make it happen.

'Here at Sophia Victoria Joy Ltd we capture the special moments in life. We aim to help you to treasure precious memories for years to come.

Sophia Victoria Joy was founded in 2010 by Sophia (her middle names are Victoria and Joy). Sophia runs the family business from her Hampshire-based studio here in the UK. She now has a specially selected team of people working behind the scenes to ensure that every product produced is just as special as the original concept she once dreamed up over a cup of tea.

From George the screen printer and Alick the photographer, to sister Harriet the wordsmith and partner Mike as technical and business director, each individual cares about what you think and work hard to give you the very best.

Memories of childhood holidays, lazy summers and cosy winters by the fire or playing in the snow are all a rich source of ideas, woven with the creativity that is Sophia Victoria Joy.

Our products for you include precious, personalised gifts, which you can lovingly wrap with thoughtful trimmings, tags and ribbons – giving that extra special touch for those you care for.'

& Last but not least, a very big welcome to Lizzie our new Christmas helper!

An Autumn Catch Up

Welcome to the Sophia Victoria Joy Blog!

Last weekend as I was rushing about arranging press loans and trade orders I missed a phone call from my mother, at the end of the message she said 'I love your new website, it's absolutely brilliant, but I just can't seem to find Millie, where are all of the pictures of Millie..?' She is referring to my old blog Studio Joy which sadly had to go when we switched to the new website.

However this weekend I grabbed 5 minutes to myself and took a look through the calendar. The last 6 months have completely flown by, I am amazed, how since the day I moved the business back to Winchester and up scaled the business I have never ever fully crossed off a to do list. There is always something being added to it before the day is done. I am extremely grateful for this and enjoy every day tremendously. But without a doubt I want to make time to keep the blog up to date and share all of our news with you!

So here is a little bit of our news. The past week has been a busy one where I feel that I haven't had much time to blog, tweet or email, but we have managed to design, create and photograph our brand new Personalised Wooden iPhone and iPad Cases, launching within the next month.

Seeing new ideas come to life in front of my eyes really is one of the best feelings in the world. I'm extremely excited about this product and cannot wait to get personalising! We are currently in the process of buying our own laser cutting machine, which will well and truly be the icing on the cake for me! I'll be able to laser cut each personalised product from the studio and be able to give our customers a quick turnaround on all orders.

So, put up your feet every so often and enjoy a little read of our blog. We also have 20% Off everything on our website for a limited time only. Simply use coupon code 'LAUNCH' at checkout.

Last but by no means least here she is, just in case you missed her too.
